Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy and Getting Started
Can I do online therapy if I live anywhere in NC?
Yes! While I have a physical office in Brevard, North Carolina, my licensure allows me to see anyone living in the state of North Carolina. I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform for these meetings. My typical business hours are 10am-6pm Monday-Friday for both in person and virtual meetings.
Do you take insurance?
I do accept insurance. I am in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna insurance plans. I also can provide a superbill for out-of-network clients which can aid in getting reimbursement for meetings. I have limited sliding scale availability and offer cash-pay sessions at $150 an hour. If you have any questions, please reach out. I am happy to help you determine your coverage and discuss how to make therapy accessible for you.
How does anxiety therapy work?
For any therapy client, the first steps are building trust and rapport. This is especially important for anxiety therapy so that you feel safe and comfortable during our meetings. Then I will try to assess whether your anxiety is situational, generalized, or trauma-related. We will work to identify triggers and patterns and I will teach you skills for better anxiety management. I enjoy using Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, which include mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Do you work with autistic teens?
Yes, I enjoy working with autistic teens! I strive to create a safe space both emotionally through validation, empathy, empowerment, and affirmation, and physically through a comfortable space with low lighting, no heavy scents, and accessible fidgets. I am always open to feedback and suggestions on other ways to make the space feel good for you. Whether navigating school-related stress, processing a new diagnosis, or building authentic confidence, my goal is to empower autistic teens to thrive as their true selves rather than exhausting their energy trying to fit a neurotypical mold.
Do you work with autistic adults?
Yes. I provide a collaborative, neuro-affirming space for autistic adults. Our work together may include developing recovery plans for burnout, executive functioning support, and identifying sensory-friendly lifestyle adjustments. My goal is to help you thrive authentically and identify a life aligned with your values.
